At the NFPA World Safety Conference held in Las Vegas in early June, 2008, NFPA membership voted to include adoptable annexes in the 2009 editions of both the Building Construction and Safety Code, NFPA 5000 and the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101 that specify conditions for installation of Platform Rescue Systems (such as Escape Rescue Systems) and Controlled Descent Devices." This NFPA membership decision has been upheld by the NFPA Standards Council.
