ASTM International, one of the world’s largest international standards organizations, has developed and published the “Standard Specifications for Multi-story Building External Evacuation Platform Systems” E 2513-07. This standard covers the specifications, safety requirements, performance, design, practices, marking instructions and test methods for Multi-story Building External Evacuation Platform Rescue Systems (PRS) for emergency escape of persons who cannot use normal means of egress to a safe area and for transport of emergency responders vertically.
NFPA has recognized and approved platform rescue systems as an additional (“supplemental”) mode of evacuation from multi-story buildings and has included such recognition in the Life Safety Code 101, defining them as an “enclosed platform or set of enclosed platforms, moving vertically along guides or other means on the exterior of a building or structure, intended for the evacuation of multiple occupants from an upper level or levels to the ground or other safe location that has the capability of transporting emergency responders to upper levels of a building.” Such recognition is conditional on meeting ASTM E-2513-07 or equivalent standard.
SII – The Standards Institution of Israel tested and approved the system in line with the requirements of ASTM Standard, E 2513-07.
The Escape Rescue System meets the requirements of ASTM 2513-07 and NFPA 101 and it is approved by the Standards Institution of Israel
